Benge, Offense Erupts in Connecticut

Some nights everything just seems to go your way. Garrett Benge and the Spinners (17-22) had one of those nights.
The offense came out of the gate hot. Nick Hamilton led off with a single and came into the score on a Brett Netzer single. After a Juan Barriento single, Benge kicked off his big night with a double to bring home Netzer. Marino Campana then brought home Barriento on a single and Benge scored on a Raiwinson Lameda sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.
With two men on in the top of the fifth, Barriento reached on a fielder's choice to bring home Frankie Rios. Garrett Benge then tripled home both runs, his third hit of the night, toextend the lead to seven. Campana drove in his second run of the night with an RBI single.
Benge brought home Brett Netzer in the top of the sixth for his fourth hit and RBI of the evening to make it 9-0 Spinners.
Starting pitcher Enmanuel De Jesus turned in a solid start with 5.1 innings of shutout baseball. He struck out five, gave up four hits, and walked zero batters.
Frankie Rios got the eighth inning started with a walk and was put into scoring position by a Netzer single. Garrett Benge then singled for his fifth hit of the game and his fifth RBI of the evening.
Ryan Oduber came into relieve De Jesus. In 1.2 innings of work, he gave up three earned runs on five hits. Joan Martinez then closed out the game with two scoreless innings.
With the win, the Spinners end July having won four of their last five games. Tanner Houck takes the hill for the Spinners tomorrow against Connecticut (19-18) before the team returns home on Tuesday, August 2nd. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
