Bertness Stellar as Bees End Skid

(Beloit, WI) - The Burlington Bees (46-61) snapped a five game losing streak with a 7-2 win over the Beloit Snappers (54-52) on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field. 

(Beloit, WI) - The Burlington Bees (46-61) snapped a five game losing streak with a 7-2 win over the Beloit Snappers (54-52) on Tuesday night at Pohlman Field. 

Jonah Todd led off the game by grounding a single back up the middle. After moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, Richie Fecteau singled to right field, scoring Todd, giving the Bees the 1-0 lead. 
Bees' starting pitcher Nate Bertness threw five shutout innings as the Bees went on to add to their lead in the sixth. Richie Fecteau led off the frame with a double to left. With two outs, Artemis Kadkhodaian lined a single to center, scoring Fecteau giving the Bees a 2-0 lead. 
The Bees went on to bat eight times in the top of the seventh inning. Stephen Kerr and Juan Moreno opened the inning with singles, placing runners at the corners. Jonah Todd then singled to right, scoring Kerr, pushing the Bees' lead to 3-0. With the bases loaded, Julian Leon singled in two and extended the lead to 5-0. Sam McDonnell capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly, upping the Bees' advantage to 6-0. 
With two outs in the top of the ninth inning, Julian Leon doubled to right. After a walk, Artemis Kadkhodaian reached on an error, loading the bases. John Schuknecht drove in Leon with a walk, upping the lead to 7-0. Beloit scored their two runs in the ninth as the Bees went on to win, Bees' starter Nate Bertness (5-9) earned the win while Beloit starter Xavier Altamirano (7-3) was charged with the loss. 
The Bees will continue their seven game road trip with the opener of a three-game series against the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. at Modern Woodman Park in Davenport, Iowa.
