Despite tying the game in the top of the seventh, the Biloxi Shuckers (57-63, 23-30 2nd Half) allowed six runs in the bottom of the frame as part of an 8-2 loss to the Rocket City Trash Pandas (73-50, 32-22 2nd Half) on Thursday night at Toyota Field. For a

For a third consecutive night, the Shuckers struck for a run in the first inning. Cam Devanney and Garrett Whitley each drew walks and Devanney raced in to score on a fielder’s choice and error, giving Biloxi a 1-0 advantage. RHP Victor Castañeda faced the minimum in the first two innings, allowing just a single.

Biloxi had another scoring opportunity in the top of the third. Thomas Dillard doubled with two outs and walks to Felix Valerio and Zavier Warren loaded the bases for Wes Clarke. The Shuckers’ catcher laced a ball to deep center field, but Jordyn Adams made a leaping grab at the warning track to keep Biloxi off the board.

Rocket City tied the game in the bottom of the third inning on a solo home run by Bryce Teodosio, his 14th of the season. A solo home run by Logan O’Hoppe in the home half of the sixth gave the Trash Pandas their first lead of the night at 2-1.

In the top of the seventh, Cam Devanney pulled the Shuckers back level with a solo homer to center off the batter’s eye against RHP Sean McLaughlin (W, 5; BS,2), Devanney’s 19th of the season to make it 2-2. However, Rocket City would send 10 men to the plate and score six runs in the bottom of the seventh, taking an 8-2 lead on two walks, four singles and a hit by pitch.

Looking to snap a six-game losing streak, the Shuckers continue their series against the Trash Pandas on Friday night. Biloxi is set to send LHP Brandon Knarr (1-6, 4.00) to the hill opposite Rocket City RHP Mason Erla (4-4, 3.92) for a 6:35 pm first pitch.
