PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (July 31, 2018) - Stone Crabs' right-hander Blake Bivens was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.
Bivens turned in seven scoreless innings in a 6-0 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Friday, striking out five while allowing just three hits and one walk.
The Sutherlin, Va. native is 6-4 with a 2.83 ERA for the year, surrendering only 47 hits in 57.1 innings.
Bivens becomes the fourth Stone Crabs player to bring home a weekly award this year. Nate Lowe (April 23-29) and Peter Maris (May 14-20) each won FSL Player of the Week, while Willy Ortiz (July 9-15) won FSL Pitcher of the Week earlier this month.
Bivens was also named the circuit's Pitcher of the Week by MiLB.com.
