Bluefield, Va. - The Royals fell to the Blue Jays 8-2 in their series finale, with Bluefield finishing a three-game sweep while handing Burlington its fifth straight loss.
The Royals scored first in the top of the third, with Jake Means hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home Rafael Romero to give them a 1-0 lead. From there on out, however, it was the Blue Jays game.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, Leonardo Jimenez doubled to score Miguel Hiraldo and tie the game at one. Following that, a pair of RBI groundouts from Joseph Reyes and Scott Bradley as well as an Eric Rivera RBI single made it 4-1 Bluefield. The Blue Jays tallied three more in the bottom of the seventh to make it 7-1 after RBI singles from PK Morris and Jimenez and Morris scoring on a passed ball.
The Royals added one more run in the top of the sixth on a Burle Dixon RBI double, but the Blue Jays plated Morris on a wild pitch in the bottom of the seventh to make it an 8-2 Bluefield edge.
The Royals are back at home on Monday for a three game set with the Princeton Rays. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30.
