MANCHESTER, N.H. (August 5, 2022) – The Toronto Blue Jays announced Friday that left-handed pitcher Ricky Tiedemann has been activated from the development list and will join the New Hampshire Fisher Cats from High-A Vancouver. He is scheduled to make his first Double-A start Friday at 7:05 p.m. against the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Delta Dental Stadium.

Tiedemann, 19, is the top pitching prospect and No. 3 overall prospect in the Blue Jays organization, according to MLB Pipeline, one spot behind Fisher Cats infielder Orelvis Martinez. He is also ranked among MLB’s Top 100 prospects at No. 61 and retired all three batters he faced in the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

The Long Beach, Calif., native was selected in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Golden West College. Tiedemann made his professional debut this April with Dunedin, allowing just six runs and striking out 49 batters in 30 innings. He was named the Florida State League Pitcher of the Month in April.

After six Single-A starts, Tiedemann was promoted to Vancouver on May 14 and went 2-2 with a 2.39 ERA in eight outings. He fanned 54 batters and issued just 12 walks in 37.2 innings. In 14 starts combined between Dunedin and Vancouver, he held opposing hitters to a .150 batting average.

The 19-year-old is the youngest active player in the Eastern League and second-youngest active player at the Double-A level. Tiedemann will celebrate his 20th birthday on August 18.

The Fisher Cats continue the six-game home series against the Flying Squirrels (Giants affiliate) Friday at 7:05 and are at home through next Sunday, August 14. Tickets for all remaining games at Delta Dental Stadium are available at NHFisherCats.com, via email at [email protected], by phone at (603) 641-2005, and in-person at the Fisher Cats box office on 1 Line Drive in Manchester.
