The Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Florida Power & Light Company (FPL) have partnered to offer fans the opportunity to learn more about electric vehicles (EVs) and take a test drive. The FPL EVolution® “Drive the Electric Future” ride and drive event will take place at the Blue Wahoos Stadium before Pensacola’s game against the Montgomery Biscuits on Saturday, Aug. 19, starting at 3 p.m.
“FPL’s EVolution program is making it easier than ever for drivers to go electric,” said Crystal Stiles, executive director of development, distributed technologies and mobility for Florida Power & Light Company. “We’re excited to bring the benefits of EVs to drivers in Pensacola. This ride and drive event is the perfect opportunity to explore the latest EVs on the market, take one for a test drive, discover the benefits of owning an EV, and learn how to charge your EV at home and on the road.”
Motorists ages 16+ with a valid driver’s license will be able to test drive a variety of industry-leading EV makes and models from 3 – 6:30 p.m. outside stadium gates. Rides will be available on a first come, first served basis, so attendees are encouraged to arrive early. Vehicles may include the Ford F150 Lightning, Ford Mach E, Tesla Model Y, Tesla Model 3, Polestar and Nissan Aryia.
Fans can also enjoy giveaways and raffles, and take photos with Kazoo. They can also learn more about FPL’s solar and energy-saving programs including FPL SolarTogether® and a new “House of Savings” virtual reality (VR) experience.
“We’re excited to offer our fans this unique opportunity to take some of the top electric cars on the market for a spin at the ballpark,” team president Jonathan Griffith said. “Our goal as an organization is to improve the quality of life in our community, and offering the chance to fans to learn more about eco-friendly options will be both positive and fun.”
Following the game, fans can enjoy a Fireworks Spectacular. Gates open at 5 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
