Francisco Closes Door As Claws Top Rocks 8-5 for Second Straight Win

WILMINGTON, DE - Carlos Francisco, the eighth BlueClaws pitcher of the night, threw a scoreless ninth inning for his third save as the BlueClaws picked up an 8-5 win over Wilmington on Thursday night at Frawley Stadium.

Jersey Shore (31-28) won their second straight game and has taken two of the first three from Wilmington this week.

Gabriel Rincones Jr., playing in his third game with the BlueClaws, had two his and three RBIs while Rixon Wingrove had two hits and drove in two, giving him eight RBIs in the last two games. Andrick Nava had two hits as well.

Wingrove drove in a run on a fourth inning RBI single to cut the Wilmington lead to 3-1. Trailing 4-1, the BlueClaws got going in the fifth. Leandro Pineda tripled in a run while Erick Brito drove in another on a SAC fly. Rincones singled home two with a single and Wingrove singled home another to give the BlueClaws a 6-4 lead. Nava added an RBI single for an 7-4 lead capping a six run inning.

Rincones added a SAC fly in the ninth to drive in the eighth BlueClaws run.

Meanwhile, the last five BlueClaws pitchers combined to get the last 16 outs and not allow a run. Tristan Garnett (2-2) earned the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. He was followed with scoreless innings from Cam Wynny, Jordi Martinez, Jason Ruffcorn, and Francisco, who struck out two in the ninth.

Jared Carr, Wingrove, and Marcus Lee Sang each stole bases in the win.

Gunner Mayer starts for Jersey Shore on Friday night.
