Three Run First Propels Cyclones to 4-1 Win Over BlueClaws on Thursday

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn scored three run in the first inning and that was enough to top the BlueClaws 4-1 on Thursday night at Maimonides Park.

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn scored three run in the first inning and that was enough to top the BlueClaws 4-1 on Thursday night at Maimonides Park.

The teams have now split the first two games of the second half with the BlueClaws falling to 3-2/28-32 on the season.

William Lugo homered two batters into the bottom of the first to open the scoring. It was his seventh home run of the season. Omar De Los Santos then doubled home D'Andre Smith to give the Cyclones a 3-0 lead. All three first inning runs were charged to starter Sam Jacobsak (0-2), who took the loss.

Leandro Pineda's SAC fly in the second brought in the first and only BlueClaws run of the game.

Junior Tilien homered off Carlos Betancourt in the bottom of the second to give the Cyclones a 4-1 lead, which was the final run of the game.

Betancourt gave up one run in 3.1 innings. Four BlueClaws each threw a scoreless inning - Tristan Garnett, Rodolfo Sanchez, Matt Russell, and Jordi Martinez.

Nick Ward and Wilfredo Flores each had two hits in the loss for Jersey Shore.

The teams continue their series on Friday night with Gunner Mayer starting for Jersey Shore.
