MOOSIC, PA (July 12, 2022) –The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (41-44) defeated the Louisville Bats 11-2 on Tuesday evening. Josh Breaux went 3-for-5 with his first career Triple-A home run.
The RailRiders took the game’s first lead in the second on a defensive miscue after Ronald Guzmán singled to right-center with two outs and a runner on. Derek Dietrich scored all the way from first on the play following a missed-catch error by third baseman Max Schrock to give SWB a 1-0 advantage.
Louisville tied the game at one apiece in the top of the third with a Jose Barrero run-scoring double against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre starter Clarke Schmidt. The 26-year-old Schmidt allowed that lone tally over 4.2 innings with six strikeouts in his fourth appearance with SWB this season.
The RailRiders broke the tie a half-inning later courtesy of a four-run third. Oswaldo Cabrera launched a two-run big fly to right in his first appearance with SWB since May 8. Greg Bird brought home another tally with an opposite-field single and Armando Alvarez put Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead 5-1 on a sacrifice fly.

The Bats scratched a run off the lead against MLB-rehabber Jonathan Loáisiga in the sixth. Colin Moran hit an RBI double to right-center to get Louisville within 5-2. Loáisiga gave up one run on three hits over one frame of work in the second appearance of his Minor League rehab assignment. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got that one back in the seventh via Alvarez’s second run batted in of the night to make it 6-2.
The RailRiders scored five insurance runs in the eighth. Miguel Andújar drove the first two in with a single to left as part of a 3-for-5 night for him. Josh Breaux and Jake Bauers then became the first RailRiders’ this season to hit back-to-back home runs and plated the final three in the 11-2 final. Breaux is now 9-for-13 at the plate with that long ball in his first four Triple-A games.
