Milwaukee Brewers LHP Brent Suter has been assigned to the Biloxi Shuckers roster, the team announced on Sunday. Suter will be active for Sunday afternoon's game and is eligible to pitch at some point in the Shuckers series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.
The 29-year-old makes his first Major League rehab assignment with Biloxi as he recovers from ulnar collateral ligament surgery on his throwing elbow in July of 2018. Prior to his surgery last season, Suter made 20 appearances with the Brewers, 18 starts, going 8-7 with a 4.44 ERA. The lefty made a pair of rehab starts with the Arizona League Brewers prior to his assignment to Biloxi, tossing two scoreless innings without allowing a hit and striking out four.
Suter returns to Biloxi after playing for the Shuckers in 2015, going 5-3 with a 1.53 ERA in 20 appearances on the inaugural Shuckers team. One of Suter's most iconic moments with the Shuckers came on June 6, 2015, when he scored the winning run as a pinch runner in the 14th inning against the Mobile BayBears in the first ever game at MGM Park. The lefty was also named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week on June 22, 2015 and was named an MiLB Organizational All-Star with the Brewers in 2015.
Biloxi continues their five-game series against the Jumbo Shrimp on Sunday afternoon at 2:35 pm at MGM Park. The Shuckers are scheduled to send RHP Alec Bettinger (5-6, 3.62) to the mound opposite Jumbo Shrimp RHP Sixto Sanchez (7-4, 2.96). The game can be heard locally in Biloxi on Cruisin' WGCM AM 1240/100.9 FM, TuneIn Radio or the MiLB First Pitch App and can be seen on MiLB.TV.
