ROUND ROCK, Texas – The Texas Rangers announced on Sunday afternoon that INF Brock Holt is set to begin a Major League Rehab Assignment with the Round Rock Express tonight against the Sugar Land Skeeters (Houston Astros affiliate) at Dell Diamond. Tickets for the 6:05 p.m. first pitch are available via RRExpress.com. Holt is expected to start at third base and bat second for the E-Train on Sunday night.

Holt was added to the Rangers’ COVID-19 Related Injury List on August 23 and has missed the club’s last 18 games. The Fort Worth native is hitting .208 (43-207) with 12 doubles, two home runs and 19 RBI across 67 games with Texas this season. Defensively, Holt has played exclusively at third base this year, posting a .976 fielding percentage after committing just four errors in 466.1 total innings at the hot corner.

A 10-year Major League veteran, Holt has suited up for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2012), Boston Red Sox (2013-2019), Milwaukee Brewers (2020), Washington Nationals (2020) and Rangers in his career. Across 742 total games in The Show, Holt is a career .263 hitter (615-2,339) with 126 doubles, 16 triples, 25 home runs and 230 RBI. Holt was a member of the World Champion Red Sox in 2018, appearing in 109 games for the club en route to the title. He became the only player in MLB history to hit for the cycle in the Postseason by achieving the feat during the American League Divisional Series against the New York Yankees that season.

While primarily a second and third baseman, Holt has appeared at every defensive position except catcher during his professional career. He made his Major League pitching debut with the Rangers on August 7, allowing just one hit in an otherwise perfect inning of relief at Oakland.

Originally selected by Pittsburgh in the ninth round of the 2009 June Draft, Holt made his MLB debut with the Pirates in 2012 before a midseason trade to Boston. He was named a 2015 American League All-Star with the Red Sox after posting starts at first base, second base, third base, shortstop, left field, center field and right field during the first half of the season.

Holt and the Express battle the Sugar Land Skeeters in game four of their six-game series on Sunday night at Dell Diamond. Round Rock RHP David Kubiak (1-0, 2.70) is scheduled to face Sugar Land RHP Peter Solomon (8-0, 4.36) with first pitch set for 6:05 p.m.
