Brown, May Named PCL Players Of The Week

The Pacific Coast League office announced Monday that Las Vegas Aviators infielder Seth Brown and right-hander Dustin May of the Oklahoma City Dodgers were named Player and Pitcher of the Week for the period of July 22-28, 2019.

For the week, Brown hit a league-leading eight home runs and 13 RBI. In six games for the Aviators, Brown also led the league in total bases (38), slugging percentage (1.520), and tied for the league lead in runs (12). He also ranked second in on-base percentage (.567) and his 12 hits placed him tied for second amongst league leaders for the period. Brown hit in all six contests for the Aviators this week and had four multi-hit games including three multi-home run games. On July 27, he had two home runs and four RBI and followed that with another two-homer game the following night, both against the El Paso Chihuahuas.
Brown, who was selected in the 19^th round of the 2015 draft by the Oakland Athletics out of Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, is batting .291 (104-for-358) with 27 home runs and 75 RBI in 88 games this season. Brown has been recognized the past two seasons as an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star for the Oakland Athletics, and won the 2017 Joe Bauman Home Run Award with High-A Stockton while hitting a career-high 30 home runs. This is the second Player of the Week honor for Brown in his career (August 27, 2018 with Stockton).
Oklahoma City pitcher Dustin May picked up two wins on the week, surrendering just one earned run in 12.0 innings pitched while racking up a total of 10 strikeouts. May allowed the fewest runs scored (1) amongst pitchers with eight or more innings pitched, and was also among the league leaders in ERA (0.75, 4^th), WHIP (0.75, 4^th) strikeouts (10, T-4^th) and average against (.154, 5^th). In his first start of the week on July 23 against Nashville, May scattered three hits over six scoreless frames while striking out four in the win over the Sounds.
On the season, the 21-year-old is 3-0 in five starts for Oklahoma City with 24 strikeouts. May, who was selected in the 3^rd round of the 2016 draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of Northwest High School in Justin, Texas, began the season with Double-A Tulsa before being promoted to Oklahoma City on June 27. May, who participated in the 2019 Futures Game in Cleveland, is taking home his third Pitcher of the Week honor in his career and second of the season (May 27, 2018 with Rancho Cucamonga, June 23, 2019 with Tulsa). He was also selected as a 2019 midseason All-Star in the Texas League with Tulsa prior to his promotion.
