MEMPHIS, TN – The Memphis Redbirds homered their way to a 5-3 victory over the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in game one of a six-game series at AutoZone Park on Tuesday night.

After taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a catcher Pedro Pages RBI single, Memphis found itself down 3-1 heading into the bottom of the fifth.

With one out in the inning, designated hitter Clint Coulter sliced his second homer of the year to bring the Redbirds within 3-2. Later in the inning, with two outs and two runners on left fielder Alec Burleson came to the plate. The left-handed hitter smacked his 16th home run of the season into the left-center field bullpen to put Memphis ahead for good.

On the mound, right-handed pitcher Tommy Parson tossed a career-high 6.0 innings in relief to earn his fifth win of the season. Parsons pitched in relief of a pair of MLB rehabbers, Steven Matz and Jordan Hicks. Matz allowed just one hit and struck out three in his two innings while Hicks allowed one run on one hit, walked one and struck out one in his third appearance with Memphis.

The Memphis Redbirds (42-31) return to AutoZone Park for game two of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (38-35) for a 7:05 p.m. CDT first pitch on Wednesday, June 29.
