Burlington Shuts Out Wisconsin

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Burlington Bees took a 3-0 lead in the first inning of Thursday's regularly scheduled game against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and never looked back. The Bees stopped the Rattlers 4-0 on one hit at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Wisconsin had beaten Burlington 3-2 in ten innings earlier in the evening to complete a suspended game from Wednesday night.
The Bees (42-64 overall, 12-25 second half) grabbed an early lead by scoring three times in the top of the first inning. Spencer Griffin knocked in the first two runs with a triple. Tim Millard drove in Griffin with an RBI grounder and the Bees were up 3-0 before the Rattlers got a chance to hit.

Wisconsin starter Dylan File settled in after the first inning and didn't allow another run as he worked five innings before turning the game over to the bullpen.

Burlington starter Jose Soriano kept the Rattlers in check. He struck out four and walked four over four hitless innings. He left the game after walking the leadoff batter in the bottom of the fifth.

Austin Krzeminski entered the game for Soriano and got a strikeout and a double play to end the inning. Krzeminski would go on to pick up the win, his fourth of the season.

The Rattlers (49-59, 18-21) got their only hit of the game in the sixth inning. Darren Seferina lined a clean single to center with one out, but the Rattlers could do nothing with that opportunity.

Wisconsin walked a total of six times against three Burlington pitchers, but each time it appeared the Rattlers would get something going the rally was stopped, Burlington's defense turned three double plays to erase three of those walks. The Rattlers managed to get just one runner to third base in the contest.

Burlington added a run in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Julio Garcia. Makay Perez closed out the game with two scoreless frames out of the bullpen for the Bees.

Wisconsin has only been shut out four times in 108 games this season, but two of those four shutouts are at the hands of the Burlington Bees.

Thursday's game was the first of the seven meetings between the Rattlers and Bees to be decided by more than one run.
The final game of the series - and Wisconsin's homestand - is set for Friday night. Aaron Ashby (1-0, 0.00) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Burlington has named Denny Brady (0-3, 4.95)

The best henchmen in the world will be celebrated during this game on Minion Night presented by Stacy Hennessey. The first 500 kids ages 12 & under to attend this game will receive a Minion Splat Ball from North Shore Bank. Special Memories Petting Zoo will have a fun display outside the stadium before the game, too. 

Arty's Old Fashioned drinks will be available to fans 21 and over for $3 on an Arty's Old Fashioned Friday with WIXX.

Stick around after the game to enjoy a FOX11 postgame fireworks display. Children 14 and under may participate in Kids Run the Bases thanks to Menasha Corporation after the fireworks display. There is a pregame parade for Boy Scouts with sleepover for Boy Scouts after the game.
