VANCOUVER, BC – The Canadians were held hitless by the Spokane Indians [Rockies] in a 4-0 loss at Rogers Field at Nat Bailey Stadium Wednesday night, the first time the C’s have been no-hit at The Nat since becoming a Blue Jays affiliate in 2011.

Spokane starter Anderson Pilar (W, 4-0) turned in the finest outing of his career to baffle the Vancouver offense over seven scoreless innings. He walked three and struck out 13 to lead the way before Brayan Castillo got the last six outs to secure the Rockies affiliate’s first no-no since July 2014.

Vancouver mustered four walks on the night and failed to move a runner into scoring position. They were close to a hit twice: a sinking liner off the bat of Gabby Martinez was snared thanks to a tumbling grab from right fielder Braiden Ward to end the fifth and Peyton Williams stroked a 101-mph fly ball to the wall in dead center in the bottom of the ninth that was caught for the penultimate out of the game.

The Indians used two homers in the third to take a 3-0 lead then tacked on another run in the seventh thanks to a lead-off walk and a two-out RBI single. C’s starter Devereaux Harrison (L, 5-4) posted his team-best sixth quality start of the year after surrendering those three third inning runs over his six innings of work. He struck out six and didn’t walk a batter.

With the loss, the series has evened at one game apiece. The Canadians will look to bounce back on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. as Kevin Miranda takes the ball opposite Spokane’s Mason Green.
