Cardinals Hit Season-High Five Home Runs in 11-0 Win Over Daytona

JUPITER, FL – The Palm Beach Cardinals (30-31; 63-64) beat the Daytona Tortugas (36-24; 57-69) by a final score of 11-0 on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. It was their seventh shutout of the season and their offense hit a season-high five home runs. After two scoreless innings,

JUPITER, FL – The Palm Beach Cardinals (30-31; 63-64) beat the Daytona Tortugas (36-24; 57-69) by a final score of 11-0 on Tuesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. It was their seventh shutout of the season and their offense hit a season-high five home runs.

After two scoreless innings, Gabe Camacho hit a one-out double in the bottom of the third inning. Jayden Lobliner followed with his second home run of the year, a two-run blast.

Two hitters later, Trevor Condon blasted his first career home run over the right-field wall. Ryan Mitchell capped the scoring with an RBI single to center field, which put Palm Beach ahead 4-0.

The Cardinals’ starting pitcher Branneli Franco ran into trouble in each of his first three innings but was able to work his way out of each jam unscathed. He was lifted after four shutout innings where he struck out five Tortugas and did not issue a walk.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Dee Kennedy hit his first career home run to left field. This extended the Cardinals’ lead to 5-0.

Palm Beach blew the game open in the bottom of the fifth inning. After Miguel Hernandez doubled to lead off the frame, the Cardinals loaded the bases with a walk and an error. Owen Henne followed with an opposite-field grand slam to right field to put the Cardinals ahead 9-0.

Dallis Moran (W, 1-1) took over in the top of the fifth inning for Palm Beach and pitched three perfect innings where he added four punchouts. He and Franco combined to retire 14 consecutive Tortugas in the middle innings.

Palm Beach added insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Hernandez led off the inning with a home run to left field, his third hit and third run scored of the game as part of a 3-for-5 night. It was Palm Beach’s fifth home run of the game, a season high.

The Cardinals added another run when Alexander Frias followed the home run with a triple and Ryan Mitchell drove him in with a sacrifice fly to put the Beach Birds ahead 11-0.

Justin Militello shut Daytona down in the eighth and ninth innings which finished off an 11-0 Cardinals win.
