BURLINGTON, IA - Carlos Herrera and the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers had enough. The Rattlers snapped a ten-game losing streak against the Burlington Bees with a 4-0 win in game two of Thursday's doubleheader at Community Field. Herrera allowed two hits, walked one, and struck out six for a complete-game shutout in Wisconsin's 4-0 win over the Bees.

The Timber Rattlers (40-61 overall, 14-19 second half) broke in front with two runs in the top of the fourth inning. Ryan Aguilar singled to start the inning. Weston Wilson drove in Aguilar with a double for the 1-0 lead. Nathan Rodriguez delivered a two-out single to knock home Wilson for the 2-0 advantage.

The Bees (45-57, 14-19) only threats against Herrera came in the second and third innings. In the second, Julian Leon doubled to start the inning and he was sacrificed to third with a bunt. Herrera retired the next two batters on a grounder to third and a strikeout to end the inning.

In the third Zane Gurwitz singled and was sacrificed to second, but got picked off second by the catcher Rodriguez. Herrera would walk Jonah Todd with two outs, but would also pick him off first to end the inning.

Wisconsin added to their lead in the sixth inning. Aguilar walked with one out and Keston Hiura followed with a single. The hit extended Hiura's hitting streak with the Timber Rattlers to eight games. Hiura, the #1 pick of the Brewers in the 2017 draft, has reached base in all 23 games he has played as a professional and has at least one hit in 22 of those 23 games. Both runners would move into scoring position on a passed ball.

Wilson, who had three hits in the nightcap, drove in Aguilar with a single. Later in the inning, Hiura scored on a wild pitch and the Rattlers were up 4-0.

That was more than enough for Herrera. The right-hander retired the final twelve batters he faced in the game to close out the game on 77 pitches. This was the first seven-inning, complete-game shutout by a Timber Rattlers pitcher since Tyler Wagner pitched one in game one of a doubleheader against the Clinton LumberKings at home on May 8, 2013.
The final game of the series is set for Friday night at Community Field. Thomas Jankins (5-6, 4.27) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. The Bees have named Erik Manoah Jr. (5-6, 4.16) as their starter. Game time is 6:30pm. The radio broadcast of the twinbill is on AM1280, WNAM starting with the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Pregame Show at 6:10pm. The broadcast is also available on TuneIn Radio and IHeartRadio.
