WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (June 25, 2022) – The Hudson Valley Renegades dropped a tough game to the Winston-Salem Dash 6-3 on Saturday night at Truist Stadium.

Winston-Salem took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first with three straight one-out singles off Yoendrys Gómez. The right-hander settled down to retire the final five batters he faced in 2.0 innings of work.

In just his third outing of the season, Gómez struck out two and did not allow a walk while throwing a season-high 41 pitches.

The Renegades took the lead in the top of the third on a two-run single from James Nelson off Matthew Thompson. Aaron Palensky extended the lead to 3-1 with a solo home run in the fourth, his seventh homer of the season.

The long ball was part of a stellar night at the plate for Palensky, who finished 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. The Renegades managed only two hits after the sixth inning, both by Palensky.

The Dash chipped away with a run against Josue Panacual in the fifth on an Oscar Colas RBI single to cut the deficit to 3-2. They took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs off Panacual (2-2) but stranding the bases loaded.

In the bottom of the seventh, the Dash added two more off Panacual to extend the lead to 6-3. Ryan Miller finished off the game with 2.0 scoreless innings out of the bullpen, though he did allow an inherited run to score.

With the loss Saturday following the loss on Friday, the Renegades have lost games on back-to-back days for the first time since May 27 & 28 against Rome, a span of 25 games.

Hudson Valley finishes its series with Winston-Salem and its 12-game road trip on Sunday afternoon at Truist Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. Coverage begins on the Renegades Baseball Network at 12:45. LHP T.J. Sikkema (0-1, 3.50) takes the mound for the Renegades, RHP Andrew Dalquist (3-4, 5.63) gets the call for the Dash.
