Binghamton, NY- Yard Goats RHP Case Williams struck out 12 batters in his Eastern League debut, but it was not enough as the Binghamton Rumble Ponies defeated Hartford 6-0 on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium in New York. The 20-year old Williams tied a franchise single-game record (Ashton Goudeau in 2019), and set a new record for the most strikeouts in a Yard Goats debut. Mets prospect Ronnie Mauricio drove in five runs and cranked a three-run home run for Binghamton.

The Rumble Ponies took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning against Hartford starter Case Williams. Wyatt Young led off with a walk and Carlos Cortes singled. Ronnie Mauricio followed with a three run home run down the right field line, his 26th of the season. This started a big night for the Ponies shortstop who drove in five of Binghamton's six runs.

After Williams hurled a 1-2-3 second inning, the Rumble Ponies added another run in the third inning as Ronnie Maurcio knocked in Wyatt Young with a single and it was 4-0. The Yard Goats starter settled down and retired 12 of the next 13 batters faced and worked six innings.

Binghamton starter Tony Dibrell allowed a leadoff double to Isaac Collins in the first inning but did not surrender another hit the rest of the way and fired six scoreless innings. He walked four and struck out six and turned things over to the bullpen and Milford, CT native Joe Zanghi in the seventh. Zanghi worked the final three innings and earned his first save.

The Yard Goats and Rumble Ponies continue the six-game series on Saturday night at 6:35 in New York. RHP Mitch Kilkenny will start for the Yard Goats and RHP Jose Chacin will start for the Rumble Ponies. The broadcast can be heard on AM 1410, FM 100.9 and the iheart radio app.
