Ranked as the #26 prospect in the Boston Red Sox farm system, infielder/outfielder Ceddanne Rafaela was named to the American League squad for the 2022 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game. Rafaela was one of the first eight participants to be named.
Rafaela began the '22 campaign with the Drive, taking the South Atlantic League by storm before earning a June 7th promotion to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs. At the time of his promotion, 21-year-old from Curacao was tops amongst all Sally League batters in Batting Average (.330), Hits (65), Total Bases (117), Slugging Percentage (.594), and OPS (.962). He also ranked amongst the circuit's top 10 in Runs (2nd, 37), Doubles (2nd, 17), Triples (T-2nd, 4), Home Runs (T-6th, 9), and RBI (3rd, 36).'
Signed as an International Free Agent by the Red Sox in July of 2017, Rafaela was named the Red Sox 2021 Minor League Defensive Player of the Year.
The 2022 Futures Game showcases the top Minor League prospects. It will once again feature a National League vs. American League format. The game, which is scheduled for seven innings, will air at 7 PM ET exclusively on Peacock and SiriusXM.
Two-time World Series Champion and World Series-winning manager Mike Sciossia will lead the NL squad, while fellow World Series Champion and 2007 NL Most Valudable Player Jimmy Rollins will manage the AL team.
