San Antonio pushed its win streak to four with a 6-3, series-sweeping victory over Acadiana Sunday night at Wolff Stadium.

The Chanclas came out swinging Sunday against lefty Cameron Barlow. Trailing 1-0, San Antonio quickly continued their hot hitting ways, plating three runs on four hits in their first turn at bat. Jordan Thompson, Ryan Flores and Kyte McDonald began the rally with consecutive one-out singles. Barlow walked Conner Shepherd to score Thompson with the tying run. After Johnny Hernandez put the Chanclas up 2-1 with a sacrifice fly to left, Grant Smith pushed the lead to two with a single.

Acadiana got one run back in the third against San Antonio righty Lance Lusk when Zavier Moore drove in Trace Henry with a double.

Arturo Guajardo made sure the Chanclas 3-2 lead held firm during his time on the bump Sunday. The UTSA hurler was sensational in two and two-thirds hitless innings, striking out six and walking just one.

However, in the seventh, Acadiana evened the score at three with Billy Garrity’s RBI single off Garrett Egli (1-0).

San Antonio wasted numerous scoring opportunities after its big first inning, but finally took advantage of a break in the bottom of the seventh. With the bases loaded and one out, Leyton Barry hit a dribbler towards Zavier Moore. The first baseman charged at the ball with the plans of trying to go home with it. However, Moore failed to make an out of any kind when he bobbled the ball, allowing McDonald to score from third with the go-ahead run.

McDonald helped the Chanclas pad the lead in the eighth, first with an RBI single and then scored the game’s final run following a throwing error by catcher Marshall Skinner on his second stolen base of the frame.

Johnny Panatex picked up the save for San Antonio (4-2) with two scoreless innings of relief. Chanclas hurlers racked up 11 strikeouts in the win.

Following an off day, the Chanclas will head to Lafayette, LA Tuesday to begin a three-game series with the Cane Cutters. First pitch from Fabacher Field Tuesday night is scheduled for 7 PM. Righty Riggs Threadgill (0-1, 0.00) will take the hill for San Antonio. Acadiana has yet to announce a starter for the opener.
