FRESNO, Calif. – The Ports (29-25, 56-64) dropped the series finale in walk-off fashion, despite big performances from Gavin Turley and Josiah Romeo. Stockton had a seven-run lead, but could not hold on as the loss clinched the series for Fresno, (29-25, 66-55) and tied the two teams in the California League North second-half standings.

Stockton opened the scoring in the second on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Ramon Landaeta, bringing in Bryan Andrade to make it 1-0. The Ports added another in the third on an Andrade sacrifice fly to make it 2-0. It was another steady addition on a Drew Burress RBI single to make it 3-0 before a big Gavin Turley grand slam (13) gave the Ports a 7-0 lead in the fourth.

Fresno’s first response came on a Daniel Jackson RBI single in the bottom of the fourth. It would be the lone run allowed by Josiah Romeo in his five innings of work, allowing three hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

Stockton went to the bullpen in the sixth and a five-run flurry ensued, making it 7-6. Cristian Arguelles scored the first on an RBI triple, and Jackson added another RBI single to his night as a part of the rally.

Turley came through with his second home run (14) of the night to provide some breathing room for the Ports, a solo blast to left field making it 8-6 in the top of the seventh.

Fresno started their ninth-inning rally on a walk, Jackson picked up his 3rd RBI of the night on a double off the wall in right center and Ronny Ugarte singled to score Jackson and tie the game 8-8. Landyn Vidourek pinch-ran for Ugarte, and moved to third on two wild pitches. A Kade Brown strikeout and Andrade diving tag on the runner diving into first would save the game in the ninth.

Roman Martin was the first to deliver in extras, an RBI-single scored Max Durrington and made it 9-8 in the top of the tenth. Fresno answered in the bottom of the tenth on an RBI single from Arguelles to tie it 9-9, but two lineouts forced an eleventh inning.

The Ports could not bring home the automatic runner in the top of the eleventh, but Fresno did on a walk-off single from Cort MacDonald to clinch a series win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: Gavin Turley’s five RBI tied a season-high, which he set earlier in the series opener on Tuesday.

UP NEXT: Stockton returns home for the final home games of the season. It’s a Wild Card Tuesday at Banner Island Ballpark where fans can win BOGO tickets, discounts, and deals. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM against Ontario.
