Syracuse, NY (April 28, 2018) - The Syracuse Chiefs lost to the Rochester Red Wings for the first time this season, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. Alejandro De Aza had two hits and a walk, extending his league-leading on-base streak to 18 games.

Syracuse, NY (April 28, 2018) - The Syracuse Chiefs lost to the Rochester Red Wings for the first time this season, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon at NBT Bank Stadium. Alejandro De Aza had two hits and a walk, extending his league-leading on-base streak to 18 games.

Rochester (8-10) scored first in the top of the second inning. Brock Stassi and Jermaine Curtis both singled, putting runners on first and third base with no outs. James Ramsey followed with a base hit that scored Stassi from third for a 1-0 Rochester lead.

The Red Wings added a second run in the eighth. Bobby Wilson led off with a double to the center-field wall, moved to third base on a Gregorio Petit sacrifice bunt, and scored on a wild pitch to give Rochester a 2-0 advantage.

Syracuse (12-7) had another solid outing from its pitchers, but the Chiefs' offense was limited to five hits in the game while striking out nine times at the plate. Syracuse left nine runners on base and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Chiefs pitchers César Vargas, Tim Collins, Jimmy Cordero, and Wander Suero combined to allow six hits, two runs, and three walks in the game while striking out seven batters.

The Chiefs and Red Wings conclude their three-game series on Sunday afternoon. RHP Austin Voth is schedule to pitch for Syracuse, and LHP Dietrich Enns will be on the mound for Rochester. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
