GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Peoria Chiefs took the lead in the sixth inning and held on to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. The Chiefs also beat Wisconsin 2-1 on Friday night in game one of the series.
A popup lost in the Sun led to a Peoria (49-37 overall, 10-6 second half) run in the top of the second inning. Gabriel García couldn't locate the popup off the bat of Yariel Gonzalez to start the inning and the ball dropped in for a single. Julio Rodriguez followed with a single. Then, Matt Fiedler singled to drive home Gonzalez for a 1-0 lead.

The Rattlers (37-49, 6-11) tied the game in the bottom of the third inning. Zach Clark lined a home run to left with one out to even the score. It was Clark's sixth home run of the season.

Wisconsin had a chance to take the lead almost immediately after the home run by Clark. Darren Seferina tripled to right-center as the next batter, but the Rattlers couldn't get him home.

Elehuris Montero untied the game in the top of the sixth inning with a lead-off home run. Montero's eleventh home run of the season gave the Chiefs a 2-1 lead. He has homered in two straight games in the series.

The Rattlers loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh and had runners at first and second with two outs in the eighth, but could not cash in those opportunities. Wisconsin had five hits and drew seven walks, but would strand nine runners in the loss.

Peoria has nine wins over the Timber Rattlers. They have won five of those nine games by one run.

Dylan File, the Wisconsin starting pitcher, scattered nine hits, walked none, and struck out five over seven innings, but was burned by the longball. He has allowed thirteen home runs this season with six of those homers being hit by the Chiefs.

The final game of the series is Monday afternoon. Nelson Hernández (9-5, 4.57) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Paul Balestrieri (5-3, 3.88) is set to start for the Chiefs. Game time at Neuroscience Group Field is 12:05pm.
