Visalia, CA – Minor League Baseball announced on Tuesday that Rawhide pitcher Junior Ciprian and catcher Ivan Luciano were named to the 2026 California League All-Star Team.
Ciprian is one of four starting pitchers named to the Cal League All-Star Team. A 21 year-old from the Dominican Republic, he made 15 starts with Visalia in 2026 over 71.2 innings pitched. Ciprian held a 2.76 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with a .176 BAA while totaling 80 strikeouts. His ERA and WHIP were second best in the league and BAA best among Cal League pitchers with at least 60 innings of work.
He was named California League Pitcher of the Month in June with a 3-1 record and 2.63 ERA in 5 starts. Ciprian was promoted to High-A Hillsboro on July 17th. After starting the year unranked, Ciprian finished the season as the No. 19 D-backs prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Luciano is the California League Catcher of the Year. Over 85 games with Visalia he hit for a .264 BA, .375 OBP and .441 SLG. Luciano totaled 82 hits including 18 doubles and 11 home runs while amassing 52 runs, 50 RBI and a team best 54 BB.
Defensively, Luciano started a team high 59 games behind the dish and threw out 28 runners- the fourth most in the California League.
Luciano was promoted to High-A Hillsboro on August 11th. A 2024 second round draft pick from Puerto Rico, he finishes the season as the No. 18 D-backs prospect according to MLB Pipeline.
Visalia’s 2027 season starts on Friday, April 2nd with a three game series in Fresno against the Grizzlies. The Rawhide’s home opener is Tuesday, April 6th vs. the San Jose Giants.
