PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves and Farm Bureau are excited to announce infielder CJ Alexander and relief pitcher Indigo Diaz have been named the Farm Bureau Player and Pitcher of the Week.

Alexander, 25, churned out three homers, two doubles and three RBI in six games against Montgomery at Trustmark Park.

The third baseman is hitting .266 with 10 home runs and 25 RBI. His 10 long balls are tied for sixth in the Southern League. Alexander smacked eight homers and 20 RBI in 23 games in May.

The Atlanta Braves drafted Alexander in the 20th round of the 2018 MLB Amateur Draft out of State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota.

Diaz, 23, totaled up three scoreless innings over three outings against Montgomery, allowing just one hit and no walks with six strikeouts.

The right-hander struck out the side twice, including in the ninth inning on Sunday, June 5 for the club’s 21st strikeout to set the club record for team strikeouts in a game. Atlanta’s No. 14 prospect holds a 3.66 ERA and 25 strikeouts over 19 2/3 innings.

The Atlanta Braves drafted Diaz in the 27th round of the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft out of Michigan State University.
