Clark, McKinley Toss Hot Rods to Win

Bowling Green, KY - Just 12 hours after playing their longest nine-inning game of the season at Parkview Field, the Bowling Green Hot Rods beat the Fort Wayne TinCaps by a score of 5-1 on Wednesday morning.
A game after cranking out 12 runs, the Hot Rods were led by a brilliant pitching performance by both starter Ethan Clark (W, 2-1) and reliever Jayson McKinley (S, 3).
In his best start of the season, Clark threw six innings of shutout baseball, giving up just two hits and allowing four total baserunners. He also struck out six wins.
Aside from giving up a run in the ninth inning, McKinley earned the save in his first appearance with the Hot Rods this season. The 23-year-old righty gave up just one hit in three innings while striking out three.
Clark and McKinley combined to give up just three hits.
Offensively, the Hot Rods scored one run in each of the first four innings of the game to take control.
Following a run-scoring groundout from designated hitter Jonah Heim in the first inning, Bowling Green got a RBI single by catcher Rene Pinto to go up 2-0 in the second.
To finish off the stretch, the Hot Rods got a solo homer from infielder Robbie Tenerowicz in the third inning and a sacrifice fly from Pinto in the fourth inning to go up 4-0.
The homer from Tenerowicz was his second in as many days. He now is tied for the team-lead with six roundtrippers.
Bowling Green tacked on their final run in the seventh inning on a RBI single by outfielder Joshua Lowe.
To pace the eight-hit attack, Lowe, Tenerowicz and outfielder Eleardo Cabrera each had two base knocks.
With the win, Bowling Green notched their third straight victory. They have won 5 of their last 6 games overall and have won two straight road games for the first time since late April at Lansing.
The Hot Rods will continue a two-week stretch on the road on Wednesday with the final game of a three-game series against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. LHP Kenny Rosenberg is expected to toe the rubber for Bowling Green while Fort Wayne will counter with RHP Hansel Rodriguez.
First pitch is at 7:05 PM eastern time at Parkview Field. The next 11 games will be played in the eastern time zone.
