Claws Hit Two Home Runs in 7-5 Saturday Win

SPARTANBURG, SC - Kodey Shojinaga and Wuilfredo Antunez homered and the BlueClaws held off a late Hub City rally in a 7-5 win over the Spartanburgers on Saturday night.

The BlueClaws won their second game of the week after winning on Tuesday and losing the next three.

After Antonis Macias homered in the first inning, Kodey Shojinaga tied the game in the second with his second home run of the year.

The BlueClaws took the lead with three runs in the third inning. Nate Humphreys broke the tie with an RBI single. Shojinaga added a SAC fly and Wuilfreo Antunez hit an RBI single.

The game was 5-2 in the fifth when Antunez smashed a two run home run to right center, his first with Jersey Shore to put the BlueClaws up 7-2.

Jersey Shore starter Tanner Gresham gave up three runs, two earned, over five innings with three walks and five strikeouts. The Charlotte native was pitching less than an hour from where he grew up.

Titan Kennedy-Hayes gave up an unearned run in the ninth but earned his fourth save to take over the team lead.

Shojinaga had three hits in the win while Antunez had two.

The teams wrap up the season on Sunday at 2:05 pm. LHP Juan Amarante starts for Jersey Shore.
