Game One
The Blue Rocks took the first game 8-1.
Wilmington took the lead in the third inning on an RBI single from Luke Dickerson, a Rockaway, New Jersey native. The BlueClaws tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a fielder's choice ground ball from Carter Mathison that included two Wilmington errors.
The Blue Rocks went back in the lead in the fourth on a SAC fly from Caleb Farmer. They added two more runs in the sixth off Jake Eddington. Jacob Walsh, who extended his hitting streak to 13 games, doubled in one and Farmer doubled home the second of the inning for a 4-1 lead.
They tacked on four more in the seventh inning which included a home run from Ronny Cruz, his 11th of the year.
Jersey Shore starter Ryan Dromboski gave up two runs, one earned, over five innings. Wilmington starter Miguel Sime, Jr. gave up an unearned run in four innings while fanning six.
Baron Stuart came into a 4-1 game in the sixth, got the last four outs, and earned the save.
Game Two
Jacob Walsh drove in six and hit a grand slam for Wilmington in game two.
Wilmington scored twice in the first on two balks. Eli Willits singled home a run in the second. Then in the third, Jacob Walsh, after three walks loaded the bases, launched a grand slam over the centerfield wall for a 7-1 Wilmington lead.
Jersey Shore got one back in the sixth on an RBI single from Devin Saltiban, who is now 18-54 in his last 15 games.
Wilmington added four runs, including a two run double by Walsh, in the seventh to push the lead to 11-2.
Brady Day extended his hitting streak to 13 with a base hit in the first inning.
BlueClaws starter Cade Obermueller was charged with seven runs in three innings, six of which were earned.
The teams continue their series on Saturday night at 7:05 pm. RHP Brandon Beckel starts for Jersey Shore.
