MONTGOMERY, AL., — The Columbus Clingstones (12-17, 38-57) could not get much going on offense and had pitching struggles all night in a blowout 11-2 loss to the Montgomery Biscuits (13-16, 51-47) on Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.
Decisive Plays: Montgomery built a 4-0 lead before a three-run home run from Brayden Taylor broke it open in the third inning. A solo home run from E.J. Exposito in the fourth inning put Columbus on the board. Montgomery got a booming two-run home run from Brock Jones in the seventh inning to make it 11-1. An error on Cooper Kinney allowed Adam Zebrowski to score in the ninth inning.
Key Contributors: Exposito (2-for-4, HR, RBI) had the only RBI and multi-hit game for Columbus while David McCabe (1-for-4, 2B) had the other extra-base hit. For Montgomery, Taylor and Jones had the big swings.
Notable: Columbus had allowed an opponent to score 10 or more runs just once in its first 93 games, but has allowed that total twice in its last three games. Exposito has two home runs in his last three games. Kevin Kilpatrick Jr. pushed his on-base streak to 10 games with a single in the seventh inning. The nine-run margin of defeat was the largest for Columbus this season.
