MONTGOMERY, AL., — The Columbus Clingstones (13-19, 39-59) took an early 1-0 lead but a quick surge from the Montgomery Biscuits (15-17, 53-48) offense put Columbus in a hole it could not come back from in a 3-2 loss on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Decisive Plays: An RBI single from Cal Conley gave Columbus a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Montgomery responded with a one-out triple from Brayden Taylor and an RBI single from Tatem Levins. A two-run third inning gave Montgomery a 3-1 lead. Adam Zebrowski crushed a solo home run (6) in the seventh to bring Columbus within a run. With the tying run at first in the ninth, Geraldo Quintero grounded out to end the game.

Key Contributors: Zebrowski (1-for-4, HR, RBI) and Conley (2-for-4, RBI) powered the Columbus offense while Brian Moran (4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 SO) was electric in relief. For Montgomery, Ty Johnson (7.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 SO) carried the Biscuits while Colton Ledbetter, Homer Bush Jr., and Taylor collected RBI hits.

Notable: Columbus falls to 13-20 in one-run games this season and 1-6 since returning from the All-Star break on July 18. Moran set a new single-game career-high in innings with four scoreless frames. Columbus has struck out 10 times against the last two starting pitchers for Montgomery in Brody Hopkins and Johnson, the second and third time that has happened this season.
