VISALIA, CA - The Visalia Rawhide, in conjunction with the California League of Professional Baseball Clubs, announced today that RHP Connor Grey has been named the California League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 15-22.

Grey put together a dominant start in Stockton on Thursday night as he dealt seven shutout innings while scattering three hits, walking two, and striking out a career-high 12 hitters. The 23-year old finished his outing by striking out the side after issuing a lead-off walk in the seventh.
The outing gave Grey his California League leading third win of the season. His 0.98 ERA ranks as third-best in the league.
"Thursday was one of the nights I felt really good and could command all my pitches," said Grey. "It's an honor to win this award. I go out every game and try to give my team a chance to win. I couldn't have done it without my teammates and our coaches, who helped me in executing our game plan."
Grey was a 20th round draft pick of the Arizona Diamondbacks from St. Bonaventure in 2016. He made one spot start with the Rawhide last season before making two appearances in Class-AAA Reno. He finished his season with Short-Season Hillsboro and Class-A Kane County. Grey made national headlines last September when he pitched a perfect game for Kane County against the Clinton Lumberkings. Grey's perfecto was the first in Kane County franchise history.
Grey has been named a League Pitcher of the Week twice before in his career: on July 2, 2017 in the Northwest League with Hillsboro and on September 4, 2017 in the Midwest League following his perfect game.
After Visalia hurlers claimed three Pitcher of the Week honors in 2017, Grey becomes the first Rawhide player to be awarded by the California League in 2018. Current Rawhide right-hander Bo Takahashi was given the award twice last season, on June 5 and August 30, and Cody Reed earned the recognition on July 23.
Visalia is currently tied for first place in the California League North Standings and begins a six-game homestand tomorrow evening. The homestand will feature the Rawhide's next event: The Salute to Those Who Serve. Over the weekend the club will honor Firefighters, the Military, and Law Enforcement. The Rawhide will also host their first post-game fireworks show on Friday, April 27. For tickets or more information, please visit Rawhidebaseball.com or call 559-732-4433.
