Garrett Cooper drove in three runs and Forrest Snow earned the win in his Sky Sox debut as Colorado Springs defeated the Iowa Cubs, 7-3, in front of 5,786 Friday night at Security Service Field.

The hosts jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning. Lewis Brinson grounded into a bases-loaded fielder's choice, scoring René García for the first run of the game, and then Cooper launched a two-run double to straightaway center field to score Kyle Wren and Brinson.
The Sky Sox (34-24) posted another three-run inning in the fifth to break a tie score. With two outs, Brinson clubbed a double off the left field wall to plate Wren for his second RBI of the game and 25th of the season. One batter later, Cooper reached the 50-RBI mark with a single up the middle to extend the lead to two. Two batters later, after David Berg entered in relief, Ivan De Jesus greeted the new pitcher with a RBI single up the middle, scoring Cooper for RBI No. 23.
Colorado Springs tacked on one more run in the bottom of the eighth. Wren had himself a three-hit night and his final single to center field drove in De Jesus to give the Sox a four-run cushion. Wren also made some history on the base paths, stealing his 43rd base as a member of the Sky Sox in the fifth inning, passing Sean Barker for eighth place all-time in franchise history.
Andrew Barbosa started the night for the Sox, taking a no-decision after 4 2/3 innings in a spot start. Forrest Snow (1-0, 0.00) made his Sky Sox debut and shut down Iowa (26-35) by tossing 3 1/3 scoreless innings, striking out two batters and forcing eight groundouts. David Goforth entered in the ninth and closed out the game with a 1-2-3 scoreless final inning.
Colorado Springs and Iowa continue their four-game series with a doubleheader Saturday evening at 5 p.m., with one of the games being rescheduled from the rained out contest in Des Moines on April 29. RHP Taylor Jungmann (1-0, 1.08) makes his season debut in game one of the twinbill against an Iowa pitcher to be named later. Saturday night is also Pirates and Princesses Night, presented by National CyberSecurity.
