GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Kane County Cougars scored five runs in the top of the sixth inning on Monday night to erase a 2-0 Wisconsin Timber Rattlers lead. The Cougars held off a late Wisconsin rally for a 7-4 win at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium.
Tristen Lutz put the Rattlers (47-58 overall, 16-20 second half) up 2-0 in the first inning with a long, two-run home run over the wall in center. The homer was his eleventh of the season.

Kane County (53-52, 18-18) broke through against the Rattlers for five runs in the top of the sixth inning to take the lead.

Rattlers starting pitcher Christian Taugner retired the first batter of the inning, but gave up an infield single and a ground-rule double to end his night.

Reliever Gabe Friese walked the first batter he faced to load the bases. Jose Caballero dropped a bloop single into right that scored two runs to tie the game. Tim Susnara was next and he doubled to drive in two more runs. Ryan Dobson capped the inning with an RBI single and the Cougars were up 5-2.

Jancarlos Cintron padded the Kane County lead with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning.

The Timber Rattlers were down to their last strike twice in the bottom of the ninth inning, but managed to extend the game and get the tying run to the plate. Jay Feliciano drew a walk on a 3-2 pitch and took second on defensive indifference. Gabriel García drove in Feliciano with a single to center on a 2-2 pitch. García took second on defensive indifference and would score on a wild throw by Cintron after a grounder to shortstop off the bat of Nic Pierre and the Rattlers were within three runs. Darren Seferina drew a four-pitch walk and that got Zach Clark to the plate as the tying run.

Clark sent a slicing fly ball to the line in right that looked like it might drop, but Dobson made a diving catch to record the final out of the game.

The final game of the series is Tuesday night. Nelson Hernández (10-6, 4.59) is the scheduled starting pitcher for the Timber Rattlers. Mack Lemieux (2-8, 3.88) is set to start for the Cougars. Game time is 7:05pm.
