Hickory, NC- The Crawdads defeated the Wilmington Blue Rocks 7-1 in a rain-shortened series finale. The teams played five complete innings before the rain hit the area.

The ‘Dads broke out in the bottom of the second inning, scoring five runs. Trevor Hauver led off with a walk and Miguel Aparicio doubled to center. Hauver was called out sliding into home, but Aparicio was able to advance to third. Cristian Inoa singled in Aparicio for the first run of the game. Kapers drew a walk to put two runners on. Evan Carter smacked his fourth homerun in the past three games give the ‘Dads three more runs. Thomas Saggese followed up with a homer of his own for the fifth run of the inning.

The Crawdads added two more runs in the fourth inning to pull ahead 7-0. With two outs, Zavala singled to right and Freeman homers to center, his twelfth of the season.

Wilmington got their first hit of the game in the top of the fifth inning on a leadoff solo homerun. The home was the only base runner Englert allowed in five innings of work. He racked up nine strikeouts.

The Crawdads will have the next four days off before a three-game series starting on Friday night in Greensboro.
