Dayton, Ohio-Isaac Paredes blasted two home runs to lead the South Bend Cubs to an 11-4 victory over the Dayton Dragons on Friday night. The game was the start to a four-game series between the two clubs.
Paredes connected on a solo home run to get the scoring started in the fourth inning and then added a three-run homer in the fifth. His two home runs gave him seven for the year.

The Dragons trailed 7-0 before they scored three runs in the sixth. John Sansone drew a bases loaded walk to force in the first run and Bruce Yari followed with a two-run single to make it 7-3. South Bend scored one run in the top of the seventh before Dayton's Malik Collymore connected on a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh to make it 8-4. It was Collymore's first homer of the year in just his sixth game with the Dragons.
South Bend closed out the scoring with one run in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth.
Dragons starting pitcher Andrew Jordan (3-6) worked the first four and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on six hits with three walks and three strikeouts to suffer the loss. He left the game with a 1-0 deficit and two runners on base with two outs in the fifth but both runners eventually scored and were charged to his line.
Reliever Lucas Benenati allowed a pair of three-run home runs. He worked two and one-third innings, allowing four hits and five runs with a walk and two strikeouts. Jesse Stallings gave up one unearned run in an inning of work, and Aaron Fossas pitched the ninth, surrendering two runs on four hits.
The Dragons collected nine hits. Yari and Hector Vargas each had two. Jose Siri was 1 for 5 to extend his hitting streak to 15 straight games.
