WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (September 9, 2022) — The Brooklyn Cyclones shutout the Brooklyn Cyclones 3-0, which earned Brooklyn a playoff spot.

Game four between Brooklyn and Winston-Salem began as a bonafide pitcher’s duel. For the Dash, Luis Moncada kept the Cyclones off the board through five frames. The lefty fanned three batters and allowed a trio of base hits. But for Brooklyn, the right-hander Jeffrey Colon more than matched that effort. Colon also got through five scoreless innings, with four strikeouts.

In the top of the sixth, Brooklyn threatened to score the first run of the game against Dash reliever Haylen Green. With one out, JT Schwartz walked then Jose Peroza doubled to put men on second and third with one gone. Green buckled down though, and induced a groundout and a swinging strikeout to get out of the jam unscathed.

But then in the top of the seventh inning, the Cyclones finally broke through. With one out in the frame, Joe Suozzi launched a solo home run to score the first run of the game. After the blast, Shervyen Newton and Matt Rudick both singled to put runners on the corners for Alex Ramirez. The Mets #4 prospect then singled into left field to plate Newton and push Rudick to second. After a fly out, Jose Peroza singled to drive Rudick home and make it a 3-0 ballgame.

Unfortunately, the Dash were unable to battle back as they fell 3-0 to Brooklyn. Colon got the win with Daison Acosta locking down the save, and Haylen Green taking the loss.
