BOWIE, Md.- Baysox RHP David Hess has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of June 26-July 2, as announced by the league office on Monday morning. 

BOWIE, Md.- Baysox RHP David Hess has been named the Eastern League Pitcher of the Week for the period of June 26-July 2, as announced by the league office on Monday morning. 

Hess went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in a pair of starts for the Baysox last week and is tied for the Eastern League lead in wins (8). The Tullahoma, Tenn., native allowed just two earned runs over 13.0 IP and struck out 12.
In a 2-1 win vs. Altoona on June 26, the right-hander surrendered three hits to go along with two walks and seven strikeouts in a career-high tying seven shutout innings.
After allowing two runs in the first inning on Sunday at Akron, Hess retired 14 of the final 16 batters he faced and helped Bowie earn a split of the doubleheader with a 5-2 win in game two.
Hess is the second Baysox player to receive a weekly award this season after OF Cedric Mullins was the recipient of the Player of the Week honor for the period of April 6-16.
The Orioles originally selected Hess in the fifth round of the 2014 draft out of Tennessee Tech University.
