Davitt's Stellar Start Leads Montgomery Past Rocket City

MONTGOMERY, AL - The Montgomery Biscuits (5-4) pitching staff struck out 18 hitters in route to a 3-1 win over the Rocket City Trash Pandas (3-6) on Tuesday night at Riverwalk Stadium. Duncan Davitt led the way with 10 strikeouts in six innings of one-hit ball.
Davitt improved to 2-0 and has allowed one run in 11 innings over his first two starts. The right hander posted five 1-2-3 innings and allowed just one hit and one walk.
After missing some early opportunities, the Montgomery offense came through in the sixth. Will Simpson scored a run on a groundout, and Tatem Levins hit a sacrifice fly to center field to make it 2-0.
Cooper Kinney doubled down the left-field line in the seventh to make it 3-0. Kinney finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI in his third three-hit game of the season.
Rocket City loaded the bases in the eighth and put on two runners in the ninth, but Alfredo Zarraga struck out five batters for a five-out save to secure the 3-1 win.
The second game of the series is on Wednesday morning at Riverwalk Stadium. Ty Cummings will make the start for Montgomery while George Klassen is slated to start for Rocket City. The first pitch is at 11:00am CT. Fans can listen on Jox 740, MLB At Bat, and Bally Live.
