Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Dragons announced today that the organization has started a massive seating transformation at Day Air Ballpark that will provide numerous upgrades for every fan in attendance for the 2027 season.
These improvements are the latest elements of a renovation and upgrade of the entire ballpark as it evolves into a state-of-the-art 21st century facility.

The seating upgrades will include the following:
- Every seat in the ballpark (over 6,000+), including seats outside of luxury suites, will be replaced for the first time since the stadium originally opened in April of 2000.
- While every new seat will be a high-quality upgrade, seats in premium areas across 14 seating sections will feature a breathable mesh backing for additional comfort for fans. Seating in other areas will feature beautifully styled, vintage inspired new Hussey Fusion Slat-Back plastic chairs.
- The first five rows of eight lower-level sections will include a side table next to every seat for placing food and drinks. The first row of six upper-level sections will include a drink rail.
- The Club Level of the stadium will be added with 4Topps Tables in three upper-level sections. These areas will feature four premium, 360-degree swivel mesh seats centered around a sleek, spacious table. Fans in this seating section will receive wait service with food and drink orders taken and delivered at their seat.
The seating renovation is the latest upgrade to Day Air Ballpark. Over the last five years, the ballpark has received the following new elements:
- Playing surface and irrigation/drainage system
- Stadium field lighting
- South Dayton Toyota Diamond Club event center
- HD LED signage displays across the outfield fence and behind home plate
- Stadium sound system
- HVAC system
- Roof
- Additional batting tunnel
- Major upgrades to the player clubhouse level with additional locker room space and dining areas, and new weight rooms.
Mesh stadium seats at Day Air Ballpark are being installed by 4Topps and are identical to those installed at many Major League ballparks including Great American Ballpark (home of the Cincinnati Reds); Wrigley Field (home of the Chicago Cubs); Comerica Park (home of the Detroit Tigers); Busch Stadium (home of the St. Louis Cardinals); and Truist Park (home of the Atlanta Braves) among many others. Fusion slat back chairs are being installed by Hussey Seating, who previously installed the seats at Progressive Field (home of the Cleveland Guardians) and Chase Field (home of the Arizona Diamondbacks) among others.
“The Dragons have been the stewards of this facility since 2000, and we have always wanted it to be first class and professional, a place that Dayton could be proud of,” said Robert Murphy, Dragons President. “The goal on all the projects has been to bring the facility to the 21st century and a place for the next generation of Dragons fans. The new seating structure provides some options for our ticket holders, based on personal preferences. The sports industry has fallen in love with new premium seating options, and we are bringing those to Day Air Ballpark with side tables in the first five rows and 4Topps tables for four on the upper level. First conversations with our ticket holders show that they are impressed and pleased with these new additions.”
The Dragons open the 2027 season on Friday, April 2 against the Great Lakes Loons at 7:05 pm at Day Air Ballpark. For information on 2027 season tickets, go to daytondragons.com/tickets or call the Dragons at (937) 228-2287. You can also email us at [email protected] for information.
