GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Dayton Dragons built a three-run lead and held on to defeat the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Neuroscience Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Andrew Jordan struck out seven over 5-1/3 innings to pick up the win.

Dayton (20-10) took the lead in the top of the second inning. John Sansone singled to start the inning. James Vasquez followed with a double to drive in Sansone for a 1-0 lead. The Dragons scored first in all three games of the series.

Brantley Bell made it 2-0 in favor of the Dragons with a leadoff home run in the fifth inning.

Dayton added to their lead in the top of the sixth inning with a run, but it could have been much more than that. Jose Siri reached on an error to start the inning. Taylor Trammel was next and he laced a single to left on a hit-and-run play. Siri never stopped running and would score all the way from first for a 3-0 lead.

Then, the Dragons would load the bases against Wisconsin starting pitcher Thomas Jankins before Bell came to the plate again. Bell lifted a high fly down the line in right and the ball was called fair for an apparent grand slam to put Dayton up 7-0. But, after a discussion between the umpires, the call was overturned and Bell went back to the plate. Jankins would strike out Bell on the next pitch and went on to escape the inning without another run.

Wisconsin (12-15) broke through against Jordan in the bottom of the sixth inning. Trever Morrison drew a leadoff walk. Demi Orimoloye followed with a double into the corner in left and Morrison scored. Tucker Neuhaus drove in Orimoloye with a single and the Rattlers were within a run as Dayton went to the bullpen.
Aaron Fossas relieved Jordan and walked the first two batters he faced to load the bases. He struck out the next two batters to end the inning and keep the Dragons up 3-2.

The Rattlers did not threaten to score over the final three innings and Dayton completed the three-game sweep.

Jankins set a new professional single-game high for strikeouts with seven. He walked one over his six innings, but was tagged with the loss.
Wisconsin ended their six-game homestand with a 2-4 record. The loss on Sunday marked the first time they have fallen three-games under .500 this season.
The Timber Rattlers head east on Monday to begin a six-game road trip. They will be at Parkview Field to face the Fort Wayne TinCaps in game one of the trip. Braden Webb (1-2, 5.28) is the scheduled starting pitcher for Wisconsin. Jesse Scholtens (1-1, 3.14) has been named the starter for the TinCaps. Game time is 6:05pm CDT.
The radio broadcast is on AM1280, WNAM starting with the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino Pregame Show at 5:45pm. The broadcast is also available on TuneIn Radio and IHeartRadio.
