PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Aug. 14, 2018) - The Florida Fire Frogs' bid for back-to-back victories fell short in a 4-1 loss to the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday night. The Fire Frogs have not won consecutive games since taking the finale of a three-game series against the Dunedin Blue Jays

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (Aug. 14, 2018) - The Florida Fire Frogs' bid for back-to-back victories fell short in a 4-1 loss to the St. Lucie Mets on Tuesday night. The Fire Frogs have not won consecutive games since taking the finale of a three-game series against the Dunedin Blue Jays at Dunedin Stadium on July 18, and followed that win with a victory over the Clearwater Threshers to open a three-game set at Spectrum Field on July 19.

Florida struck early for a second consecutive night by tallying a run in the opening frame. Riley Delgado (2x4, R, 2B) stretched his hitting streak to six games with a one-out double to left, and came around to score on CJ Alexander's (2x4, 2B, RBI) two-bagger to the gap in left-center for the 1-0 lead.
Delgado extended his hitting streak to six games with his 10th multi-hit game at the High-A level. The 23-year-old is hitting .500 (11-for-22) since the streak began on Aug. 9.
That mark would be the only dent against Anthony Kay (3-5) for Florida (17-31, 46-68), as the visitors would collect just three more hits against the opposing southpaw through his remaining five innings, while drawing just one free pass and punching out three times.
Tucker Davidson (6-10) took the one-run edge into the fifth inning, but ran into trouble in the fifth. The lefty surrendered three consecutive singles to Luis Carpio, Dan Rizzie and Blake Triberi to load the bases with nobody out, and allowed the tying run on a sacrifice fly to left off the bat of Jacob Zanon.
The Midland College product followed the sacrifice fly by giving up a two-run double to Desmond Lindsay to put the Fire Frogs behind by two.
The left-hander's night was finished after striking out big league rehabber Jay Bruce. The 22-year-old was lifted after 94 pitches, and allowing three runs on six hits, a walk and five strikeouts across 4.2 frames in the loss.
Daysbel Hernandez tossed 1.1 scoreless innings of relief, but Victor Cavalieri allowed a run in the ninth on a sac fly by Ali Sanchez to put the Fire Frogs in a three-run hole heading into the ninth.
Matt Pobereyko (SV, 9) picked up his ninth save for St. Lucie (21-29, 48-69), tossing 1.1 innings of shutout ball to close out the game.
Florida will attempt to pull back ahead in the four-game series in game three at First Data Field. RHP Jeremy Walker  (3-10, 4.27) faces off against RHP Gabriel Llanes (6-9, 4.56). First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
