SALISBURY, MD: The Delmarva Shorebirds (28-34) split Wednesday's doubleheader against the Fredericksburg Nationals (32-30) as Fredericksburg won game one 5-4, with Delmarva taking game two 9-3.

GAME 1

The Shorebirds wasted no time getting on the board in the bottom of the first as the second batter of the game, Anderson De Los Santos, scored Jalen Vasquez with an RBI double to make it 1-0 Delmarva. De Los Santos scored moments later on a single by Jake Cunningham to give the Shorebirds a 2-0 edge after an inning of play.

That lead would then vanish in the top of the fifth as the Nationals broke out for five runs in the inning, bringing ten batters to the plate to suddenly put the Shoroebirds behind 5-2.

Delmarva would begin to chip away in the bottom of the fifth as Noelberth Romero singled home Jake Cunningham to make it 5-3.

Aneudis Mordan then hit his first Single-A home run to begin the sixth inning, pulling the Shorebirds within a single tally at 5-4.

However, Delmarva would not be able to complete the comeback as they went down in order in the seventh, giving the Nationals a 5-4 victory in game one

But the Fred Nats answered that run back quickly in the top of the second as Roismar Quintana hit an opposite-field homer, evening the game at one apiece after two innings.

The Nationals claimed the lead in the third with an RBI double by Elijah Nunez to make it a 2-1 lead for Fredericksburg.
