Derby City evens the series in walk off fashion, 5-4

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats (9-14) rebranded for the last time this season as the Derby City Mint Juleps in their 5-4 walk off win over the Norfolk Tides (8-15) at Louisville Slugger Field. After a five-game losing streak, the Mint Juleps won their first walk off game of the 2019 season.

For the first time at home, the Juleps didn't allow their opponent to score a run within the first four innings of the game. The walk off win came in the bottom of the tenth when Brian O'Grady, who went 2-for-4, hit a single that drove in Josh VanMeter who started the inning at second base.
The first run of the game came in the fourth inning after VanMeter and O'Grady pulled a double steal of second and third. A Rob Refsnyder fielder's choice, who went 2-for-4, followed to score VanMeter. Juan Graterol hit a two run RBI double to put the Juleps up 3-0.
The Tides struck back with their first runs of the game in the top of the fifth with back to back solo shots from two former Bats, Mason Williams and Zach Vincej. Derby City was quick to add to their lead in the fifth when Christian Colón hit an RBI single giving the Juleps a 4-2 lead.
Anthony Bass came in to pitch for Derby City in the top of the ninth, giving up a double to Christopher Bostick. Williams followed with his second home run of the game to tie the score at 4-4.
Nick Senzel hit a single in the bottom of the ninth and, in attempt to argue the call, Norfolk manager Gary Kendall was ejected from the game. The game stayed tied after nine forcing extra innings. The Tides were quick to load the bases in the top of the tenth after starting with a man on second, but left them loaded in their last attempt to score a run.
For Derby City, Cody Reed had the most strikeouts he's had this season with five strikeouts in his 3.0 innings pitched. Jackson Stephens (2-0, 3.77) got the win for Derby City finishing the game pitching an inning, not giving up any runs and striking out one. For Norfolk, Jay Flaa (0-2, 1.50) took the loss with 2.1 innings pitched giving up two hits and one run.
Louisville stays home to finish the three-game series against the Norfolk Tides, Triple-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles at Louisville Slugger Field. First pitch is set for Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with a right-hander matchup between the Bats' Vladimir Gutierrez (1-1, 5.75) and Tides' Luis Ortiz (0-2, 5.87).
