The Montgomery Biscuits (13-11) used a four-run fourth inning to charge back and top the Biloxi Shuckers (12-13) 5-3 on Friday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

Thomas Dillard got the scoring started for the Shuckers in the top of the second when he launched a solo blast to right field, his second of the season and second in as many days, to put Biloxi up 1-0.

RHP Carlos Luna (L, 0-2) came out firing for the Shuckers, retiring the first six batters in order and striking out four.

In the third, Freddy Zamora singled with one out and stole second with Garrett Mitchell batting. RHP Michael Mercado (W, 1-2) struck out Mitchell, but a wild pitch allowed the Shuckers’ center fielder to reach while Zamora raced to third. Mitchell would steal second and Dillard singled to center, driving home both runners to put Biloxi up 3-0.

Montgomery started their comeback in the bottom of the third on a solo home run by Jordan Qsar, his fifth of the year. The Biscuits jumped in front in the following inning on a pair of singles and a three-run homer by Grant Witherspoon. An RBI double from Roberto Alvarez was the capper on a four-run fourth that gave Montgomery their 5-3 advantage. Despite allowing five runs to score, Luna walked just one and struck out a season best nine hitters over five innings.

Biloxi’s best chance to respond came in the top of the sixth inning. Joey Wiemer doubled to right field off Biscuits’ RHP Sean Hunley (H,3) and moved to third on a groundout, but was left stranded on a strikeout and a flyout. The double for Wiemer extended his streak to six consecutive games with an extra-base hit. Biloxi did draw a walk in the ninth inning but RHP Carlos Garcia (S,1) stranded the runner to secure the save.

Still seeking their first win in the series, the Shuckers continue their tangle with the Biscuits on Saturday night at Riverwalk Stadium. RHP Lucas Erceg is set to open for the Shuckers while RHP Evan McKendry is slated to open for Montgomery for a 6:05 pm first pitch.
