Dining on the Diamond Resumes July 24

Nearly 3,000 families top the Waiting List; Boston Red Sox Opening Day Telecast to be Shown Friday Evening.

PAWTUCKET, RI – “Dining on the Diamond” resumes this weekend with a pair of seatings each evening this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, July 24, 25, and 26. The Boston Red Sox’ Opening Day telecast Friday evening will be shown on the McCoy Stadium videoboard.

With nearly 3,000 families on the waiting list, the PawSox began fulfilling reservations today. Seatings this weekend are at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Fans can join the waiting list by visiting pawsox.com, where they can also place their orders.

Members of the Waiting List have the first opportunity to secure the tables, and fans seeking personal service can call the PawSox at (401) 724-7300, daily, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. The club continues to comply with Rhode Island guidelines in light of the coronavirus pandemic, and fans are asked to wear masks (except when dining) and conduct self-screenings upon arrival at the stadium.

“Dining on the Diamond” debuted Friday, June 5. During the four weekends in June, the PawSox hosted more than 900 families (and more than 3,000 fans). The phenomenal response inspired more than 25 teams in Minor League Baseball to mimic the concept. The PawSox had paused the popular innovation while seeing if it could co-exist with the practices of the Boston Red Sox’ “Taxi Squad.” The extraordinary cooperation of the Red Sox made the resumption possible.

Red Sox players have begun working out daily at the 78-year-old stadium that has been home to the Pawtucket Red Sox for the past 50 years (1970-2020). Workouts are expected to continue through the Major League Baseball season.

With ballpark fare and family-friendly pricing, late last month the club added new items to the original menu, including a New England Lobster Roll, Chicken Caprese, and Rhode Island Steak Tips. The rest of the menu includes such specialty items as Eggplant Parmesan, Barbequed Brisket and Pulled Pork, and a Grand Slam Hot Dog smothered in bacon, pulled pork, and macaroni and cheese.

Traditional delicacies include Ballpark Hot Dogs, Bigger Better Burgers, Chicken Tenders, French Fries, and Nachos. Vegetarians can enjoy not only the Eggplant Parmesan (with pasta), but also Veggie Bites. All dishes can also be prepared Gluten Free. A full variety of beverages, including beer, wine, and spirits, is available before and during dinner.

Thirty-three (33) socially-distanced tables will once again be spread throughout the McCoy outfield. The 33 tables are a reference to the number of innings in the Longest Game in the history of professional baseball, played on this field in 1981 between the PawSox and the

Rochester Red Wings, who were then the Triple-A Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. Future Hall of Famers Wade Boggs and Cal Ripken, Jr. were among those who played in the legendary game that started Saturday, April 18, continued until 4:09 a.m. Easter Sunday, April 19, and then concluded on Tuesday, June 23 before an international media throng.

The PawSox, who this year celebrate their 50th Anniversary, had their 2020 season cancelled by the coronavirus in an announcement made by Minor League Baseball on June 30.
