SALISBURY, MD - After spearheading a historic night for his team's pitching staff, the Delmarva Shorebirds are pleased to announce that left-handed pitcher DL Hall has been named South Atlantic League Pitcher of the Week for the week of July 2-8.
The 19-year-old from Warner Robins, Georgia started the Shorebirds' July 5 home game against Hagerstown. By the time he made his exit with two outs in the sixth inning, Hall had yet to allow a hit. Only four baserunners reached against him - one on an error, one on a hit batsman, and two on walks. Hall struck out a career-high seven over a career high-tying 5.2 innings.
Alex Katz relieved Hall and helped the Shorebirds complete nine no-hit innings, but the Suns broke up the would-be no-hitter in the 10th to win it 1-0.
Through 14 appearances (12 starts) this season, Hall boasts a 2.82 ERA, making him one of three Delmarva starters who have been here since Opening Day with an ERA under 3.00. The southpaw has walked 29 and struck out 49 over 54.1 innings.
The Orioles drafted Hall 21st overall out of Valdosta High School (Ga.) in the 2017 MLB Draft. He currently ranks as Baltimore's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
This is the first career honor weekly honor for Hall and the second weekly Sally League award for a Shorebird this season. Former Delmarva starter Zac Lowther took home Pitcher of the Week for April 16-22.
