VISALIA, CA - Trailing 5-4 in the eighth, Pavin Smith welcomed reliever Michael Koval to the game by slashing the first pitch of the frame down the left-field line for a double. On the next pitch, Ramon Hernandez laced a double into the right-field corner to score Smith.

After putting the tying run on base twice previously without a run, the Rawhide had tied the game. Their first lead came shortly thereafter.
Adam Walton put a grounder up the middle for a base hit to score Hernandez and put Visalia on top 6-5. Luis Silverio singled Walton to second and Walton came home to score on a throwing error by second-baseman Zach Scott.
The Rawhide handed a 7-5 lead over to Tommy Eveld for the ninth inning and Eveld (SV, 6) delivered, striking out a pair over a perfect frame to seal the comeback win.
Visalia (35-32) fell behind in the first inning when Robbie Ray allowed three unearned runs on a Nick Zamarelli double and an Anthony Jimenez homer. The Rawhide put up five hits in the bottom of the frame to tie it up 3-3. Modesto (29-38) took a two-run lead when Kyle Lewis hit a two-run shot off of Ray in the third.
In his first rehab start since injuring his oblique, Ray went 2.1 innings and allowed five runs, two earned on five hits with three strikeouts.
Jordan Watson took over for Ray with two runners on and started a stretch of six and two-thirds shutout innings of bullpen work by getting a double play to end the third. Junior Garcia pitched two scoreless frames to set the stage for Wei-Chieh Huang, who took over in the sixth.
Huang (W, 4-1) dealt three shutdown innings while striking out six Nuts hitters, allowing only a single to Lewis in the seventh inning. Huang's scoreless innings streak has now reached 26.1 innings over a span of 15 appearances.
Koval (L, 0-3) was tagged with a blown save after allowing all three runs in the eighth.
Pavin Smith led the Rwahide offense with three hits and two RBI while Camden Duzenack, Marcus Wilson, Dominic Miroglio, and Adam Walton all added two hits. Every starting player in the Rawhide lineup collected at least one hit.
Tomorrow the Rawhide head to San Jose to start their final series of the first. First pitch is at 7 PM and will match up RHP Tyler Keele (0-1, 7.00) against Giants LHP Sandro Cabrera (6-1, 3.34). The live radio broadcast will be available on rawhidebaseball.com.
