MLB Network host Brian Kenny is a proponent of "bullpenning" -- the idea of doing away with the standard starter role and using the full roster of pitchers for a maximum of a few innings per game.
In the Majors, this strategy is generally limited to the postseason. In the Minors, with their frequent doubleheaders -- there were 15 scheduled twin bills in the Minors on Wednesday -- it's a fact of life.

Having played 11 games in 11 days before Tuesday's rainout forced a Wednesday doubleheader, the Down East Wood Ducks turned to their relievers in game two this afternoon -- with splendid results.
Rangers prospect Tyler Davis tossed four no-hit innings before giving way to lefty Brady Feigl, who finished off Down East's seven-inning one-hitter in a 4-0 win over visiting Carolina.

Davis, a 23rd-round pick out of the University of Washington in 2015, struck out three and walked one just five days after the Mudcats had roughed him up for four runs over four frames. The right-hander retired the first 10 batters in order before yielding a one-out walk in the fourth. It was his third start of the season, with seven more appearances coming in relief.
Taking over in the fifth, Feigl allowed a two-out single to Carolina catcher Max McDowell, then set down the next seven Carolina batters to finish the one-hitter. The 26-year-old southpaw fanned three while improving to 3-0 in 13 relief appearances for the Wood Ducks. The three-inning stint was his longest of the season.
Down East got back-to-back homers from right fielder Michael O'Neill and first baseman Josh Altmann in the fourth inning off Carolina starter Marcos Diplan (2-2). The Wood Ducks had lost five in a row to the Mudcats -- including the first game of Wednesday's doubleheader -- before Davis and Feigl shut them down in the nightcap.
Carolina took the opener, 7-2, behind Brewers No. 5 prospect Isan Díaz's fifth-inning grand slam. The Mudcats second baseman's eighth homer of the season was part of a six-run frame and gave him 16 RBIs in 22 May games.
